During the “Embracing Maasai Culture to Safeguard Our Environment” event, discussions highlighted the ongoing development of an ICT hub aimed at equipping the Maasai community with digital literacy skills.

The progress so far includes the allocation of spacious rooms for learning, though minor renovations are still required. Computers with ASTA technology are already available, allowing multiple users to learn from a single base unit. Additionally, a local trainer has been identified to guide learners through the digital education process.

The current situation reveals that while key infrastructure is in place, further preparations such as renovations, internet connectivity, and classroom setup are necessary before the hub becomes fully operational. The hub will utilize the Kutambua.com platform, offering courses in ICT, journalism, and driving theory.

Ongoing actions include completing the renovations, setting up electrical installations, deploying ASTA technology, and securing a reliable internet connection. The identified trainer will undergo additional training to enhance teaching effectiveness, while community sensitization efforts are being intensified to encourage enrollment and engagement.

Once fully operational, the ICT hub will bridge the digital divide, empowering Maasai youth with critical digital skills. By integrating modern technology with local expertise, this initiative promises to enhance education and career opportunities, positioning the community for success in an increasingly digital world.
