This course is designed for parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals who work with young children. It provides essential knowledge and practical tools for safeguarding children aged 7 and below, ensuring they are protected from harm and supported in their physical, emotional, and psychological development. Through five comprehensive modules, participants will learn to recognize signs of abuse and neglect, create safe and nurturing environments, and respond effectively when concerns arise. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the skills necessary to advocate for and protect the children in their care, fostering a safe and supportive environment for their growth and well-being.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the Importance of Safeguarding
Grasp the concept of safeguarding children, including its legal and ethical significance, and recognize the shared responsibility of parents, caregivers, and educators in child protection. - Identify Signs of Abuse and Neglect
Learn to detect the physical and behavioral indicators of different forms of abuse and neglect in young children, and understand their impact on child development. - Promote Emotional Safety and Positive Relationships
Develop the skills to foster emotionally safe environments, build trustful relationships with children, and create supportive settings that encourage healthy emotional development. - Ensure Physical Safety and Accident Prevention
Gain practical knowledge on childproofing homes and educational settings, identifying physical risks, and promoting safety both online and offline. - Respond Appropriately to Safeguarding Concerns
Know how to respond to suspected abuse or neglect by following the correct reporting procedures, understanding confidentiality, and supporting the child’s safety and well-being. - Create Safe Environments for Children
