Understanding and Keeping Safe: A Guide for Children
This course is designed to help children (aged 8-12) understand the importance of safety in their everyday lives. The course provides essential knowledge on how to protect themselves from physical, emotional, online, and social dangers. It empowers children with the tools to recognize unsafe situations, understand personal boundaries, and know who to talk to when they need help. Through age-appropriate lessons, interactive activities, and real-life examples, children will gain a sense of security and confidence, enabling them to make safe choices and seek assistance when necessary.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define Safety: Understand what safety means and why it is important in everyday life.
- Recognize Different Types of Safety: Identify physical, emotional, online, and social safety and their significance.
- Set Personal Boundaries: Learn how to recognize and communicate personal boundaries, including understanding “good” and “bad” touch.
- Stay Safe Online: Understand basic online safety rules to protect themselves in the digital world.
- Know Who to Ask for Help: Identify trusted adults and know when and how to seek help if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
- Respond to Unsafe Situations: Understand the steps to take in unsafe situations, including how to say “no” and tell a trusted adult.
