Grade 7: Christian Religious Education

Course Objectives

The objectives for the Grade 7 Christian Religious Education (CRE) course aim to help students deepen their understanding of Christian teachings, values, and the Bible. By the end of the course, students should be able to:

1. Understand the Teachings of the Bible
   • Understand and explain the key messages and themes from the Old and New Testaments.
   • Identify important characters, parables, and teachings of Jesus Christ.
2. Study the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ
   • Learn about the birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
   • Understand the significance of Jesus’ teachings on love, forgiveness, and salvation.
3. Explore the Role of the Holy Trinity
   • Explain the concept of the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
   • Understand how the Trinity plays a role in Christian faith and practice.
4. Learn Christian Values and Morality
   • Understand Christian values such as love, kindness, humility, forgiveness, and compassion.
   • Apply these values in daily life and decision-making.
5. Examine Christian Worship and Sacraments
   • Study the different forms of Christian worship, including prayer, singing, and fellowship.
   • Understand the significance of Christian sacraments such as baptism, Holy Communion, and confirmation.
6. Understand the Importance of Prayer
   • Recognize the role of prayer in the life of a Christian.
   • Learn different types of prayer (e.g., praise, thanksgiving, intercession) and their purposes.
7. Explore Christian Festivals and Holy Days
   • Learn about significant Christian festivals such as Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost.
   • Understand the meaning and significance of these festivals in the Christian faith.
8. Study the Ten Commandments and Christian Ethics
   • Understand the Ten Commandments and their relevance to Christian living.
   • Discuss ethical issues from a Christian perspective, including honesty, justice, and caring for others.
9. Develop a Relationship with God
   • Understand the importance of personal faith and developing a relationship with God through reading the Bible, prayer, and worship.
   • Encourage spiritual growth and maturity in daily life.
10. Learn About Christian Community and Fellowship
    • Understand the role of the church as a community of believers.
    • Discuss the importance of fellowship, service, and supporting one another within the Christian community.

By achieving these objectives, students will grow in their understanding of Christian teachings and develop a strong foundation in living out their faith, both within the Christian community and in their interactions with others.
