UK BAME Postgraduate Studentships in the Humanities – University of Oxford

      • Date 28/02/2022

The Humanities Division of the University of Oxford is committed to increasing the portfolio of studentships available to all students to attract the best, irrespective of background or ability to pay. The underrepresentation of UK-BAME (Black and Minority Ethnic) students suggests that more can be done to increase opportunities for students from these backgrounds to pursue a postgraduate degree in the Humanities.

These new studentships, made available by the Humanities Division in association with colleges, will offer financial support to talented UK students from a BAME background. Students must be pursuing a Master’s degree (MSt, MSc, MPhil or BPhil) in the Humanities. For 2022-23, at least three studentships will be available. The details of college partnerships will be confirmed shortly.

      Background

The scheme has been in operation since 2019-20, when three studentships were awarded in collaboration with St Cross College.  For entry 2021-22, three studentships were awarded in partnership with St Cross College, Pembroke College and Wadham College.

      Terms and conditions

The studentships cover all tuition fees and provide a grant for living expenses at UK Research Council rates (at least £15,609). Awards are made for the full duration of the period of fee liability for the agreed course.

      How to apply

To apply for the studentships, all you have to do is submit your completed application (including ethnicity information) by the January deadline for your Humanities course and you’ll automatically be considered.

      Queries
