Attending University is a thrilling opportunity to delve deep into a specific subject, develop independent learning skills and prepare for the world of work. However, paying for food, textbooks and accommodation can prove challenging whilst undertaking a full-time undergraduate course. Fortunately, many universities offer a series of bursaries and scholarships to ensure that any student with potential has the opportunity to study for a degree, no matter their economic situation. This article highlights some of the funds on offer to students who want to study at a Nottingham university.
University of Nottingham
The Ethel & Kevin B Malone Scholarship Fund
Amount: £1,500 per year for a full time undergraduate course (3/4 years)
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Live in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire
- Have attended a state run college or school in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire
- Have a household income below £25,000 per annum
Additional Information:
- Finance not available for foundation years
The Robert Enticott Scholarship
Amount: £5,000 paid over the duration of a full time undergraduate course
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Be enrolled as a first year on a 2022 full time undergraduate course in the school of economics
- Have a household income below £42,875 per annum
The Lenton And Wortley Scholarship
Amount: £1,500 per year paid over the duration of the course (excluding repeated years)
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Be enrolled as a first year on a full time Pharmacy or Zoology undergraduate degree in September 2022
- Be a resident of Lenton and Wortley Hall
- Have a household income below £42,875 per annum
The Timperley Scholarship
Amount: £1,250 per year paid over the duration of the course (excluding repeated years)
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Be enrolled as a first year on a full time undergraduate degree at the University of Nottingham
- Have a household income below £25,000 per annum
The Greenaway Scholarship
Amount: £1,500 per year for a full time undergraduate course (3/4 years), including a foundation year
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Live in the East Midlands
- Have undertaken all your secondary education at a state run college or school
- Have a household income below £25,000 per annum
- Be in your entry year of study (foundation year or first year depending on the course

Nottingham Trent University
NTU Bursary 2022
Amount: £750 per year for a full time undergraduate course or foundation degree
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Have started studying at NTU in 2022
- Have a household income that does not exceed £25,000 per annum
- Pay the maximum home tuition fee for their full time undergraduate degree
- Be eligible to receive a tuition fee and maintenance loan from the UK National Student Finance Service
Additional Information:
- Eligible students should automatically receive the bursary without the need to apply. If in doubt contact the financial services team to confirm your eligibility
NTU Care Leaver and Foyer Residents Bursary
Amount: £1,000
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Have been in the care of a UK local authority or been looked after by relatives under court order at some point since the age of 16
- Have been a Foyer resident at some point since the age of 16
- Be under the age of 25 at the start of the academic year your applying to enter into
- Be enrolled on a full time undergraduate course or foundation degree
Additional Information:
- Applicants are encouraged to apply no later than the 3rd of September
NTU Estranged Student Bursary
Amount: £1,000
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Be assessed as independent student on the grounds of estrangement from your parents by the UK National Student Finance Service
- Be under the age of 25 at the start of the academic year your applying to enter into
- Be enrolled on a full time undergraduate course or foundation degree
